How to Merge PDF Files Online Free (No Signup, No Limits)

You have 5 PDFs — bank statements, contract pages, scanned receipts — and you need to send them as one file. Here's the fastest free way, plus how to reorder, split, and secure the result.

The 5-second method

1. Open the [ToolsHive PDF Merger](/pdf-tools/merge)

2. Drag in all your PDFs (unlimited files, up to 100 MB total)

3. Drag to reorder if needed

4. Click Merge — done

The merged file downloads to your device. Everything happens in your browser, so nothing uploads to a server.

When merging beats other options

  • Sending multiple related documents — one attachment is easier than five
  • Archiving projects — one PDF per project, not fifty loose files
  • Print jobs — printer settings only need to be set once
  • Legal / official submissions — most portals require a single PDF

Reordering before you merge

Order matters. Common patterns:

  • Cover letter first, then supporting documents
  • Chronological for statements or logs
  • Highest priority first if the reader might not read all of it

Our merger lets you drag files up or down before combining. You can also rotate individual pages if any are sideways — use [PDF Rotate](/pdf-tools/rotate) after merging.

What about page-level merging?

Sometimes you don't want *all* pages from every file — just page 3 of PDF A and page 7 of PDF B. Two-step process:

1. [Extract pages](/pdf-tools/extract-pages) from each source PDF into small PDFs

2. [Merge](/pdf-tools/merge) the extracts in the order you want

Takes 30 seconds total for even complex custom compilations.

Size after merging

Merged PDFs are the sum of their parts — a 3 MB + 5 MB + 2 MB merge produces a 10 MB file. If the result is too big:

  • [Compress the merged PDF](/pdf-tools/compress) — usually drops 40-60%
  • [Remove unnecessary pages](/pdf-tools/remove-pages) before compressing

Most emails accept up to 25 MB. Cloud share links (Google Drive, WeTransfer) accept anything.

Common mistakes

  • Merging without reordering — the result comes out in upload order, which is usually alphabetical
  • Merging password-protected PDFs — [unlock them first](/pdf-tools/unlock)
  • Merging huge scanned PDFs — compress each before merging or the total will be gigantic

Alternatives to merging

  • When files are truly separate — send a shared folder link instead
  • When the reader only needs one section — extract just that section
  • When files exceed 500 MB total — use a proper document management tool

Why our merger is different

Most free online mergers upload your files to their server. Yours contain bank statements, contracts, personal ID scans — you don't want them sitting on a stranger's disk. [Our merger](/pdf-tools/merge) runs 100% in your browser — no upload, no signup, no watermark, no file size limit.

Try [Merge PDF](/pdf-tools/merge) now — 5 seconds, free, private.
